Langdale House

Modern Home Renovation in Northeast Dallas

This 2,000-square-foot renovation in Northeast Dallas peeled back decades of clutter to reveal the bones of a modernist gem. As Dallas residential architects, we approached Langdale House by listening carefully to what was already there, preserving the home’s strongest original elements while reworking the spaces for modern living.

The original terrazzo floors were kept, while nearly everything else was reconsidered. A new roof, raised 18 inches, brought volume and breathing room to spaces that had previously felt compressed. Rift-cut white oak was introduced to define transitions, frame the central kitchen volume, and bring warmth to the home’s minimal architectural language.

The result is a modern remodeled home in Dallas that feels quiet, enduring, and deeply rooted. Natural light, restraint, and careful material choices give the house a renewed presence without losing the spirit of the original design.

Langdale House received a 2026 AIA Dallas Residential Design Award for Modern Remodeled Home, Comprehensive and was recently featured in D Home’s Most Beautiful Homes in Dallas.
