River House

Architectural Design Highlights

Set at the edge of a pecan-filled floodplain, this 3,200-square-foot home imagines a soft imprint on the land. Inspired by the idea of structures resettled by water, volumes are arranged with intention but suggest a looseness—a lived-in quality.

Indoor and outdoor spaces co-mingle, with porches, screens, and covered zones extending the living area into the landscape. Structural clay blocks define the wet zone of the primary bath, while swing porches and sightlines capture the ever-present field beyond. This is a home defined by lightness, layering, and the openness of land.
