Goldcrest

Architectural Design Highlights

The opportunity to design a home in architect George Dahl’s 1964, storied Goldcrest Condominium Tower on Turtle Creek was such a great honor. The client had selected the space that had actually been occupied by Dahl himself. As with all other projects, we start by listening. The artist client was downsizing and was curatorially editing her art and belongings. Going from 4,000sf to 900sf required exacting precision and thoughtful execution. Every cubic inch and every dollar was rigorously wrought. We spent several initial meetings reviewing with the client her own artwork and her collected work. We listened to stories of the past and hopes for the future. A palette and a quality of light began to materialize. The space is compact but seems endless, is quiet and strong and is completely about the client and her life.
